Shell’s Protect Shell
BISSalamis Salamis, one of the largest suppliers of industrial contract services in Europe (and part of the Bilfinger Berger group), used Layher Protect on this 36m vent stack on Shell’s Leman Echo platform. The cladding was required to enable grit blasting to be carried out at the same time as other major works within the confined space of the platform.
Protect Panels for extreme wind pressures
Sean Pike, Layher’s UK Managing Director, explained that Protect panels were selected for their ability to withstand the extreme wind pressures encountered in the North Sea. Also they were easier to handle than a sheeting system in these conditions and offered better protection with welding being carried out in close proximity.
Thank you to Sean Pike of Layher UK for the use of this photo.
