  • The Opportunity

    Layher is the world’s leading manufacturer of scaffolding and temporary works solutions for the residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure and event industries. They have a vast network of customers throughout New Zealand and are experienced in delivering all types of temporary works projects including scaffolding, propping, temporary roofs, containment, stairs, stages, grandstands, rubbish chutes and construction hoists.

    About the role

    As a hungry and dedicated Business Development Manager you will have a focus on seeking out new business, championing more efficient and profitable solutions and promoting Layher’s extensive product range. You will be confident to break down barriers and open new doors to obtain and grow business in a developing market.

    The role is primarily responsible for generating new business across the Northern Region – Taupo to Kaitaia and including Gisborne as well as South Auckland with the potential to expand into the Auckland area. There is also an existing customer base that requires ongoing account management and assistance with winning more business.

    Your key duties will see you:

    • Identify new leads and grow the customer base
    • Follow up on leads and ensure opportunities are fully investigated and maximised
    • Work strategically to research and target prospects, build relationships, make offers and close deals
    • Grow existing clients by providing innovative and economical solutions, marketing leading service and support and fostering Layher’s partnership approach.
    • Prepare offers and articulate sales arguments
    • Complete ongoing account management and relationship management
    • Report all activity, forecast and pipeline
    • Build trust and credibility with customers by demonstrating sound brand and product knowledge
    • Attend industry events, and promote product through effective marketing

    You will liaise regularly with the in-house engineering team, helping to design and quote solutions that meet customers’ requirements whether they be big or small, and have the confidence to provide technical advice where required.

    About you:

    We are looking for a dynamic and skilled Business Development Manager who is proactive and driven to hunt out new business. Mix your well-developed people and business development skills, commercial nous, and technical competency all into one. Practically minded, creative, and curious.

    To be successful you’ll need to bring with you a proven track-record of generating new revenue growth through effective B2B technical sales, and a background in scaffolding, construction, engineering and/or a technical qualification would be highly beneficial.
