Whakapapa Ski Field

Taupo based Euro Scaffolds, were contracted to provide scaffolding access to multiple buildings on the Whakapapa Ski Field. The gondola drive station, measuring 35 metres by 30 metres, was one of those ski field buildings.

Whakapapa Ski Field is located on Mt Ruapehu, which rises from the Central Plateau, in New Zealand’s North Island. The ski area boundary reaches a top elevation of 2,300m. The entire Mt Ruapehu project lasted 12 months.

Great design plan

Euro Scaffolds, Jason de Montalk said “Layher provided us a great design plan, which was supplied around the truss detail at the base of the build.”

“With constantly changing weather conditions, and a fast-approaching ski season, the Euro Scaffolds team worked hard to deliver this challenging project on time,” said Jason.

Jason continued “we used Layher Allround Scaffolding and Layher Aluminium Beams on this project which contained multiple scaffold builds from the bottom of Happy Valley up to the return station at the mountain top.”
