The International – Heritage Building
Formerly Fonterra’s base in Auckland, The International is now a high-end apartment block thanks to the excellent access provided by North Shore Scaffolding (NSS).
Building scaffold methodology
Clifton Webb of NSS explains “the project involved converting an octagonal building into a square and adding 10 metres to the top. Our solution was essentially three scaffolds in one. As the building grew the inside scaffolds were removed. Our methodology involved transferring decks and ledgers to the outside of the scaffold, reducing the overall weight and minimising our labour cost.”
North Shore Scaffolding used Layher Allround Scaffolding to provide safe access on this octagonal building in Auckland -
Protecting a heritage building
“Layher Allround heavy-duty props were used to support our scaffold and maximise space in the carpark. In addition, we built a protective birdcage scaffold over a heritage building below. We used two Layher 200 Hoists to speed up the build” said Clifton.

Faster build design
“Our scaffolders also enjoyed using Layher’s Advance Guardrail System which enabled a faster build, removing the need to hook on. Layher’s Design service was extremely important to us winning this job. We were able to offer a complete solution that solved a major problem for the client.”
Two Layher 200 Hoists increased productivity and made the build much faster
