Allround the Water Tower
Located west of Blenheim on the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Base Woodbourne, the Woodbourne Water Tower required maintenance and Scaffold Marlborough were up to the job to provide access.
Historic water tower
Rob Hellström, Manager at Scaffold Marlborough said “we were contracted to provide access on the 24m tower, which is a historic landmark in the region.”
“Besides general maintenance and crack repairs, the tower required repainting so it was essential for us to provide easy access to all surfaces and using Layher Allround Scaffolding ensured we were able to do this” said Rob.
“Due to the architecture of the tower the build was not just a straight forward circular vessel scaffold. The main body of the octagonal building was supported around the perimeter by eight structural columns that formed an octagonal footprint.

Using the flexibility and accuracy of Layher Allround Scaffolding we were able to construct the scaffold in between each column. Plus we were able to incorporate several elements to the design including loading platforms to speed up delivery of equipment to the top of the job.” said Rob.
The client and building owner were very pleased with the scaffold and really appreciated the excellent access Scaffold Marlborough had provided.
