Tuakau Bridge Fibre Installation
Counties Scaffolding were engaged in providing scaffolding access on the side of a bridge in Tuakau for the installation of fibre optic cables for Chorus.
Providing access
The narrow bridge is an historic landmark and any drilling or penetration of the structure was forbidden.
Providing access to the western side of the river for a large population base there was a requirement for it to be open for two way vehicular traffic at all times and one way during scaffold installation.
Ease and speed
The Layher Allround modular system proved its worth in the building of the scaffold in such a difficult situation with the ease and speed at which components could be installed.
Evan Wheeler from Counties Scaffolding said the client acknowledged this was the best working platform system they had used on any bridge for the overall project through New Zealand because they could walk the complete length of the installation.
Challenging job
A most challenging job given the strict restrictions imposed on every aspect of the job from weather, health and safety considerations and traffic flow.
Thanks to Evan Wheeler of Counties Scaffolding for the use of these photos.
