Efficient scaffold design for central city reclad

Rocket Scaffolding were engaged to support a recladding project on a multi-storey commercial building in central Auckland. With public access beneath and retail operations ongoing, the scaffold design needed to enable safe, uninterrupted access while ensuring the structure could be assembled and dismantled efficiently.

Smart solutions for footpath access

To begin works, Rocket Scaffolding constructed a birdcage scaffold on the footpath to enable safe removal of a glass awning above the main roller door entrance. Once the awning was removed, the scaffold was extended through the opening to complete access around the facade – allowing the team to maintain momentum without major disruption.

“Braces made the spur section over the roller door entrance quick and easy. A birdcage scaffold was built on the footpath to allow removal of the glass awning. When removed, the scaffold was extended through the missing pieces to continue the build.”

Modular system delivers fast and adaptable results

Rocket used Layher Allround Lightweight Scaffolding to build a stable, professional-looking working platform around the building’s facade. The system’s modular nature enabled fast assembly and adaptation to the site’s architectural details, including corners and recessed sections.

With its clean lines and reliable safety, the scaffold supported a high-visibility project in a busy part of town, and ensured the site team could work confidently throughout the duration of the reclad.
