Showcasing Southland’s motorsport history with a bold welcome
Invercargill’s George Begg Festival brings historic racing to life. With vintage car displays, competitive track action, and family-friendly entertainment, the event draws thousands of motorsport fans each year.
To make sure the festival started with impact, Brazier Scaffolding were called in to build a towering 12-metre-high scaffold billboard for the George Begg Classic Speedfest. It stood proud at the event entrance, welcoming visitors and setting the tone for what lay ahead.
Layher Allround Lightweight Scaffolding – fast, strong, and reliable
Brazier chose Layher Allround Lightweight Scaffolding for the structure. The system’s modular design meant the crew could work quickly and adapt the frame to suit the size and height needed. Built in the heart of Southland, the scaffold needed to stand up to changeable weather and provide a stable frame for the billboard over several days of activity.
“We used Layher Allround to build the billboard because of the versatility of Layher components. Layher Scaffolding made it easy to construct and saved us a lot of time. Furthermore, we were impressed with the stability and strength of the scaffold, even in adverse weather conditions.” – Michael Russell
The scaffold structure was completed efficiently by Brazier’s Invercargill-based team.
Supporting local events with practical solutions
For Brazier Scaffolding, this was more than just another job. The George Begg Festival is a local highlight, and a chance to show their support for a Southland event that celebrates Kiwi ingenuity and motorsport heritage.
“We’re always happy to support local events, and this one is a favourite. The whole team was proud to be involved in the George Begg Festival.” – Michael Russell
The final result was a clean, safe, and highly visible display — built with a trusted system that allowed for a quick build and straightforward removal once the event wrapped up.
Thanks to Michael Russell and Brazier Scaffolding for sharing this project and supporting the George Begg Festival with their work.
