Keeping Dairy Moving
Acomplex three-year refurbishment was undertaken to upgrade this 360-metre long pipe bridge in the North Island. With the plant processing up to 14 million litres of milk a day, it was critical that work progressed without interrupting daily operations.
Precision Scaffolding for an Operational Industrial Environment
DIALOG Fitzroy was engaged to deliver the scaffolding solution, and their team rose to the challenge with precision and professionalism. The first stage focused on an 88-metre section of the bridge, requiring access structures 18 metres high and 9 metres wide, including a 9-metre scaffold bridge spanning an internal roadway, which allowed traffic to continue moving safely underneath.
To meet the technical demands of the site, the team selected Layher Allround Lightweight (LW) Scaffolding, using it to build a four-level scaffold with a total deck area of 3,200m². The modular design of the system enabled fast, adaptable assembly despite poor weather conditions and the logistical constraints of a busy industrial environment. Layher’s Allround LW Scaffolding diagonal braces enabled bridging over structures and driveways without needing special beams and time-consuming tube and couplers.
During the planning phase, the team worked closely with Layher’s engineering team, using detailed scaffold drawings and 3D modelling to refine the design and streamline the build. The site foreman later noted that the clarity of the drawings played a key role in keeping the team safe, efficient, and on schedule.
