A full scale model of a proposed building has been erected out of Layher Allround to show the residents of Berlin what the redevelopment of one of their main squares will look like.
The 100,000 m³, 38 m high birdcage will stand in Leipziger Platz until the New Year and is attracting a lot of interest. The citizens are no doubt asking, "why build the building when they could just have the scaffold!"
As the scaffold was built over an underground railway station it was necessary to transfer its weight to more solid ground by use of steel beams.
Thank you to Layher Germany for the use of this photo.
