A special task needs a special solution! Layher's new lightweight cassette roof covers a concreting machine perfectly.
During the construction of the new runway at Dresden airport, Bilfinger and Berger used special machinery fo finishing and texturing the surface of the freshly poured concrete. This vehicle travelled behind the slipform paver at the same speed, towing 60m of Keder roof which protected the freshly treated concrete surface against rain and sun.
The roof had to be low enough to meet headroom restrictions when passing under bridges. The modular paving machine also needd to be altered according to the required pavement width. By using square trusses between the roof trusses and the support frames, the roof could be adjusted accordingly.
Thanks to Layher Germany for the use of this photo.
